The dry or unfertilized stage of wisdom, the first of the ten stage.

謂三乘之人， 初居外凡位時， 未得真空理水所潤， 故名乾慧地。 （三乘者， 聲聞乘、 緣覺乘、 菩薩乘也。 外凡者， 謂心居理外也。 ）
